Research Interests
- Primary research interests are the systematics and phylogeny of Lepidoptera, especially Hepialidae, Bombycidae and Noctuidae (Eustrotiinae). Other interests include systematics of fossil insects with emphasis on fossil insects of the Mesozoic; database of the Japanese insect collections in foreign Museums; biodiversity research and database of the Lepidoptera in South-East Asia.
- Current Research Focuses
- Current research projects include revision of some Lepidoptera, including Hepialidae of Japan, Bomyx , Hepialiscus and Endoclita, etc.; faunistic studies on Lepidoptera of Hainan Is., China (with Prof. O. Yata, Kyushu University and Prof. Wang Min, South China Agric. University); database of Siebold collection in the Naturalis, Leiden.
